Edin J. HerreraHello, I'm Trooper Edin Herrera. Prior to joining the New York State Police I worked as a senior editor for a publishing company in the state of NJ. In 2000, I decided to take on a new challenge and become a trooper. No other decision has had such an impact on my life as the one I made 8 years ago. That decision has allowed for me to have a positive impact on the lives of countless individuals. It has also given me the opportunity to assist in the relief effort of such disasters as the World Trade Center and Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Giving back to the community has always been my desire. In joining the New York State Police I can honestly say that my desire has been fulfilled.  Tpr.
Al A. VasquezHi my name is Al Vasquez. I am currently assigned to the New York City Recruitment Office. It has been a pleasure serving the New York State Police for the last seven years. As a new Trooper I was assigned to Westchester County, both town and highway patrols. I have also served as a School Resource Officer placed to assist the students with everyday challenges. The State Police has also allowed me to be a role model in my Bronx community. In my free time I volunteer at my old high school DeWitt Clinton. I assist the soccer team and share my experiences with their Air Force Cadets. During my time of service with the State Police, I was able to complete my bachelor's at Lehman College and am currently seeking Grad School. The dream is real!" The deadline to apply for the 2008 entrance examination for the position of New York State Trooper was December 1, 2007. Testing was conducted in January and February, 2008 at numerous locations throughout New York State and ended February 9th. The eligibility list for this exam can last up to four (4) years. We do not anticipate conducting another exam in the near future. However, we do offer a variety of non-sworn employment opportunities, with continuous job postings on this site.
