I have been a New York State Trooper since 1988. This is a career that is second to
none and has provided me experiences that I will never forget. I was on the first wave
of Troopers that responded to the World Trade Center attack in NYC and to Hurricane
Katrina in New Orleans. I have met people from all walks of life including the President
of the United States. You never know what each day will bring.
Not everyone has what it takes to be a New York State Trooper because it requires
discipline, dedication and lots of hard work. If you make it, you will experience a
tremendous sense pride and accomplishment.
We will give you the opportunity but the rest is up to you. Do you have what it takes?
The deadline to apply for the 2008 entrance examination for the
position of New York State Trooper was December 1, 2007. Testing
was conducted in January and February, 2008 at numerous locations
throughout New York State and ended February 9th. The eligibility
list for this exam can last up to four (4) years. We do not anticipate
conducting another exam in the near future.
However, we do offer
a variety of non-sworn employment opportunities, with continuous
job postings on this site. Please click
here for a listing of current civilian employment opportunities.
Military personnel who signed up to take the 2008 entrance examination,
but could not take the exam because of Federal activation status,
