My name is Michael Wicks and I have been a New York State Trooper since 2014. I was part of the 202nd academy class. I joined the NYSP to be a member of what I feel is one of the most professional law enforcement agencies in the country. I have worked in Troop D my entire career, up to this point. I became a defensive tactics instructor with only two years out of the academy. Prior to the NYSP, I served in the United States Army and was deployed to Iraq in 2016, assigned to Foxtrot company 3-178 Rakkasan with the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Division. After the military, I worked as a Nuclear Security Officer in upstate New York, protecting two nuclear reactors at a nuclear power station.
When something becomes difficult or seems unattainable, look to reasons why you sought after that goal. This will keep you pushing forward and you will be able to breakthrough any obstacle set before you!
