Specialized Services

In addition to normal patrol duties, some troopers can request assignment to special details. The New York State Police has several specialized details throughout the state. NOTE: You must first become a sworn uniform trooper to request a specialized assignment, we do not have separate applications for these details. NYSP specialized details include:

• NYSP Aviation Unit
• Bomb Disposal Unit
• Canine Unit
• Marine Detail
• Bicycle Patrols
• Snowmobile Patrols
• Special Operations Response Team
• Motorcycle Unit
• SCUBA Unit
